My Story

I am Leatrice Bynum, the founder of Ending With Intention, a purpose-driven end-of-life planning and doula service rooted in lineage, lived experience, and divine calling.

As a young girl, I accompanied my mother and grandmother to visit the sick and shut-in. I sat in quiet rooms where prayer was whispered and hands were gently held. I watched my grandmother care for the dying with reverence — not fear. I quickly learned that being present at the end of life is not something to avoid, but something to honor.

Long before I knew the title “doula,” I was being prepared. Throughout my life, death continued to shape my understanding. As a teen, I experienced multiple family losses. At 21, I endured the devastating passing of my first love. At 38, I faced the profound grief of losing my sister. Some experiences were sudden and chaotic. Others were peaceful and intentional.

What became clear through each transition was this:  when families are unprepared, grief is compounded by confusion. When there is no plan, love is forced to compete with logistics.

These lived experiences revealed my calling.

Death isn't the enemy. Fear is.

My Mission

Ending With Intention exists to help families normalize conversations about death before crisis forces the conversation.

Leatrice supports individuals, families, and caregivers through guided end-of-life planning, facilitated workshops, legacy-centered conversations, and compassionate bedside companionship. Her work ensures families are not left scrambling, guessing, or making life-defining decisions under emotional pressure.

Rooted in emotional intelligence, spiritual grounding, and over 15 years of leadership and coaching experience, she helps transform fear into clarity and silence into preparation. Her vision is that every family will have an end-of-life plan in place — one that creates peace, clarity, dignity, and space for love to lead instead of panic.

For Leatrice, this work is not just professional — it is spiritual obedience. It is the continuation of a sacred legacy carried in her bloodline, shaped by the women who showed her what love, care, and dignified transition truly look like. It is continuing what her grandmother modeled. It is honoring what her own losses taught her. It is ensuring that when the time comes, families can focus on holding hands — not handling chaos. Because how we leave this world matters. And every soul deserves to End with Intention.

Why Families Choose Ending With Intention?

Inviting someone into this chapter of life is deeply personal.

Families choose to work with me because they are seeking calm presence, honest conversation, and support that honors both the practical and sacred dimensions of dying.

I do not rush the process or offer quick answers. I offer steady guidance, deep listening, and compassionate space so individuals and families can move through transition with clarity, dignity, and intention.
